At long last, Sims 4 developers dropped the heavily-anticipated, deeply debated “kits” feature in-game. Essentially bite-sized add-ons, kits allow Sims players to easily satiate their bottomless need for more between larger updates. Kits, now available in Origin for $4.99, offer extra gameplay, brand new build items, or fresh Create-a-Sim options for the discerning Simmer. The current available kits are as follows:
Bust the Dust“Bust the Dust” is perhaps the most infamous of the three offered kits. Since learning of the kit’s contents, Simmers immediately complained that the kit came equipped with five different vacuum cleaners. Thus, these Simmers claimed, the price didn’t merit the “steep” cost. But, of course, “bust the dust” as an add-on offers more than objects. As the more gameplay focused kit of the three offerings, “Bust the Dust” offers new aspirations and fresh features that encourage Sims to keep their homes in spotless shape, The official Sims 4 trailer shows Sims either vacuuming their hearts out and slaying the onslaught of strangely adorable dust bunnies or making nice with those bunnies as they embrace the overwhelming mess that is Sims life. Country KitchenNext is “Country Kitchen,” a build/buy based add-on which expands the number of country-chic counters and kitchen accoutrements the game has to offer. Players will savor the adorable new kitchen items that come in an array of comforting, homey hues. Throwback FitThrowback Fit is the kit for the Create-a-Sim focused player. Throwback Fit comes filled with neon shorts, 90s-inspired colorful fitness wear, eclectic 80s-inspired athletic jackets, and more. Millennials, this one is for you. Which kit will you purchase? The OverviewSpring is springing in the northern hemisphere! Following suit, Maxis and Firemonkeys are dusting off their titles to bring fresh Sims content to their salivating, waiting players. Sims FreePlayers began wrapping up the latest Belle Hotel live event and now look to the horizon for a new Sim Chase; Sims Mobile players leapt into a new anniversary-themed Sweet Treats; and Sims 4 players unwrapped a bevy of new anniversary gifts from Maxis studios. The Sims FreePlayThis week, the FreePlayers wrapped up the latest Belle Hotel Live event. During this event, Sims craft candles, pottery, glassware, and jewelry in return for fabulously fresh build/buy packs. These particular packs were those fit for the roaring twenties, offering gleaming, gilded wallpapers, bars, chandeliers in glittering gold and deep lacquer black. Next, Sims FreePlayers can expect a new Sim Chase, which begins February 26th. During this SimChase, players will compete against a game-automated "rival" to complete a barrage of time-consuming tasks. If players finish each list of tasks before the "rival," they race their way to incredible Art Deco items such as gold runway rugs, snazzy bars befitting the Age of Jazz, fantastic fountains, and a tower of starlit champagne. As FreePlayers inch closer to March, they begin speculating on the next update, which may be a more significant, game-changing one. The Sims MobileAs the latest Sims Mobile update continued, Sims FreePlayers began mixing and baking in the latest Sweet Treats event. This event rewards players with anniversary party themed assets in return for both sweet and royal tokens. The prizes Mobile players can expect to earn from this event include disco balls, a stylish military jacket for men, heart-shaped rave glasses, a smoke machine, sumptuous chairs, and more! The grand prizes for this event are a DJ Plumbob booth -- a massive DJ station composed of glowing plumbobs-- a new karaoke machine, and a straight-cut banged hairstyle for women. Wumples Wishlist #50 will begin March 2nd, offering two decorative snow globes and some fashion gems as a reward. In addition, Simmers began tagging and tweeting pictures of their partying Sims to Firemonkeys studios for a chance to win a slew of prizes. Players can win the Dancing Llama and Holiday Gift 2018 packs, Party Animal level heirlooms, 50-carat pack hats and bracelets, or 250 SimCash. The Sims 4Maxis rocked the world of Sims 4 this week with a slew of surprises that left players reeling. On February 25th, Maxis unveiled its newest "You make the Sims" campaign by collaborating with such well-known custom content creators as Hey Harrie, icemunmun, storylegacysims, peachyfaerie, grimcookies, Luumia, FeralPoodles, Peacemaker_ic, and AHarris00Britney. These custom content creators fashioned fresh furniture and features for both PC and console gamers. Now available in base game are wonderfully versatile tables, wardrobes, female tops and bottoms, toddler looks, recipes, and facial features to help player Sims live, eat, and look as uniquely as possible.
If this were not enough, Maxis revealed that it would begin a "laundry list" feature in the Sims Community. That is, Maxis will show more transparency in their bug-fixing process, revealing exactly what popular bugs they are currently investigating and correcting. At the end of the stream, Maxis also revealed that console skin tone corrections are coming to Sims 4 in late March alongside the long-awaited, long-anticipated, long-sought furniture feature that is bunk beds. And even this was not all! Later that day, Maxis also mentioned a new rollout of a feature called "kits." Soon, Maxis will begin offering a new purchasable pack type called "kits," the first few which are rumored to offer vacuuming ("Bust the Dust", country kitchen items ("Country Kitchen Kit"), and fitness wear ("Throwback Fit Kit.") Until next time, stay safe, keep warm, and happy Simming! |
