L-Shaped Rooms Feature Quest
In the world of mobile Simming, Sims FreePlay has reigned king concerning build mode for a long time and for good reason.
Sims FreePlay, modeled after the beloved PC Sims iterations Sims 1 and 2, boasts a robust build/buy system, an endless variety of furniture, and a myriad of essential build features such as balconies, porches, swimming pools, mezzanines, and much more.
But even the king has space for improvement, and the week of August 10th, 2020, Sims FreePlay will undergo a much requested change: the addition of room shapes. Until now, FreePlayers were fairly limited to rectangular rooms, though this limitation did not hamper the most creative from building stunning palaces and charming bungalows.
After the August 10th update, Simmers will see a prompt about this newest feature in their games. To embark on the L-shaped room quest, the player will have to fork out social points or simoleons. The amount will vary. A player capped at level 55, the highest in FreePlay, will need to cough up over 7,000,000 simoleons.
After purchasing the quest, the player will begin a quick series of events that guides them through building an L-shaped room. Each action takes seconds to complete, a refreshing change from the FreePlay usual.
When ready for an L-shaped room, the player must first build a standard square or rectangular room first. A new widget will allow the player to tug and resize the room into the desired L-shaped dimensions.
Players can only create L-shapes for now. They are unable to build z-shaped, u-shaped, or o-shaped rooms, but such rooms must certainly be on the horizon!
What will you build with your new L-shape ability?

List of Live Events
It’s only early August, but Sims FreePlay is ready to go back to school!
The evening of August 8th, the Sims FreePlay Gamechangers announced a new series of live events that will appear in game with the newest August 10th update. All event prizes follow the seasonal, back-to-school theme, offering a grand prize of a large school building. This building comes decked out with a paved parking lot, an assembly room, a principal’s office, wide staircases, a cafeteria, and far more.
Alongside the school-themed events, FreePlayers will have the chance to complete a special quest which unlocks L-shaped rooms!
After speaking with Lee the mechanic at the nightclub, Simmers can complete her short quest to unlock these versatile rooms. Check out the example below from GirlWhoGames!
In addition, a slew of school-themed SimChases and live events will pop into the game alongside this update. Check the list Salix Cat created to know when your favorite arrives!

Clutter is Key
The most discerning of Sim builders and interior designers know that there is a fairly simple trick to make a room look warm and inviting: clutter.
What is clutter? Clutter is a subset of Sim decor which often serves no purpose but to take up space. However, it is in these varied odds and ends that designers give their living spaces life.
Consider Farhana Norhisham’s cafe! By adding items such as prepared meals, wooden trays, utensils, a rack of clean dishes, a stack of pies, and decorative flowers, Hana makes her space appear /lived-in./ You can imagine her Sims bustling around her shop drying dishes, sleepily brewing coffee, or grabbing a cold pressed drink on a warm day.
🏡 Fill the wall space with shelves
🏡 Experiment with large, medium, and small table decor.
🏡Add a pop of life and color with houseplants
🏡Note that not all decor is created equal: the salt and pepper shakers take up far less counter space than a pot of flowers, so you may find unexpected places to fit small clutter.
🏡Make use of kitchen hatches: enclosed shelves that house dishes
🏡Note that /modern/ builds do not need to appear “homey,” and therefore do not need clutter.

Renovate your Space Update
The time surrounding an impending, anticipated Sims Mobile update is electric. Simmers, aware that Mobile Gurus tend to update the game on a monthly basis, get antsy around the end of each month; they buzz with excitement and speculations, especially as the studio drops hints about what is to come.
Sure enough, Sims Mobile Game Changers took players on another wild ride Saturday August 1st,
All of a sudden, the information gates opened and Mobile Simmers everywhere were met with a deluge of information. Players learned that, come August 3rd, a new Sims Mobile update would allow Simmers to enjoy camera mode: an in-game widget that removes user interface for clearer pictures, allows the player to toggle between day and night mode for screenshots, and introduces the ability to choose wall configuration: up, down, or cutaway. This was something highly requested and already expected from the team, but incredibly, Game Changers also revealed more jaw-dropping news: the ability to build a fourth floor on each lot.
At level 30 or above, players will be able to add a fourth floor to their builds. Costing a hefty 200,000 simoleons, the fourth floor addition is sure to thrill builders everywhere.
Of course, this update comes with a whole host of new events: Sweet Treats, Wumples, and purchasable packs to propel players through it all.
Sweet Treats: Dream Garage
The newest Sweet Treats Showdown will arrive in game August 3rd alongside the huge update! It will feature a barrage of new items players will need to build the ultimate hobby space. Such mancave materials will include items such as: workbenches, buckets, mudroom shelving, a garage door, a foosball table and far more. Players will get ready to bake, sprinkle, and frost their way into a brand new, quirkily carless garage.
Wumples: Top Hats and Menswear
Wumples #34 coasts into Sims Mobile on August 9th to present players another set of grueling tasks in exchange for two dapper CAS prizes. This time, Simmers can earn a unisex fancy lace tophat and a vested interest vest for men.
Mobile Simmers are no strangers to the somewhat endless parade of purchasable packs in-game. Each update offers more, and they add varying levels of value to gameplay.
This update is no different. August 3rd, Simmers will have the opportunity to buy the Simoleon Cactus Pack; this wildly lucrative pack will be $6.99 USD, and it offers the following:
The Sunshine Styles pack is a simple CAS pack with a some clothing items for women. For 9.99 USD, mobile Simmers will enjoy:
Finally, in order to assist players in their four-level home aspirations, the Sims Mobile team will offer a premium build pack called “The Fourth Floor Booster” pack. At a whopping $59.99 USD, this pack will pour game currency into player pockets. How much currency? Try:

Sims Mobile Teaser
Simmers are a notoriously insatiable crowd, and mobile Simmers are no exception.
Though Sims Mobile recently released a massive update to gameplay, one that more tightly entwined LlamaZoom tasks with core in-game goal-setting, players began to quickly look to the horizon for the next big change.
Though the mobile Sims community is not due for a major overhaul just yet, it is due for a smaller update which should include Sweet Treats, Wumples, and a parade of purchasable packs.
Thursday morning, Firemonkeys finally dropped a substantial teaser on Twitter, posting a crisp graphic of a female Sim snapping a picture of herself. She is surrounded by items brand new to the game: a new workbench, a hall tree, a plush beanbag, a succulent plant, new wall lights, and what may be a new striped carpet.
She also sports a new hairstyle, a thick textured bun, and is wearing a new set of colorful overalls and a striped shirt.
Are the new build/buy items upcoming Sweet Treats prizes? How about the CAS items? Does the camera mean the addition of a camera mode?
Stay tuned right here as we keep you updated to the minute!
Your bathroom doesn’t have to be a boring room where you slap down some crusty toilet and a shower. Transform this room into an area of luxury and retreat using these tips!
🧼 Resist the rookie mistake of pushing all furniture to the edges of the room. Let your furniture, especially lux-looking tubs, take up space in the middle of the room. (Note how Moiken Lorenzen’s tub is featured at the center of her room, Irimiel Emlurathian’s ottoman is the middle of hers, and mine has a luxe seating area.)
🧼Use interesting room shapes that help demarcate sections of the room. (For example, in my T-shaped bathroom, I fit my luxe tub into the “stem” of the T. Moiken’s Z-shaped room divides her tub and laundry area from her shower and toilet area)
🧼 Add an ultra luxurious aura with a fireplace!
🧼When in doubt, add seating and floor rugs to fill space
🧼Give your Sims the romantic bathroom they deserve with low, hued lighting. (Use candles, fireplaces, string lights, or colorful floor or ceiling lights for this.)
🧼 Instead of tile, use a stone, marble, or wood floor to give your bathroom instant pizzazz
🧼Do not fear wall art and windows! Add discrete windows and modern wall art to make your bathroom feel like less of a damp little box.
What is your favorite thing to add in a bathroom? Comment below!

Early July brought a slew of impressive updates for the Sims Mobile: Knox strolled into Simsville touting his plans to transform an abandoned shipping container into a grand community maker’s space; Sims Mobile Game Changers gave the details for two new Wumples quests, a barrage of purchasable packs dropped, and players began a Sweet Treats Showdown which rewarded them with mid-century modern furniture, a bunkbed, and a retro record player.
However, early July also brought a host of new problems for the game. The most prevalent and pressing problem is the infamous party glitch, swelled into new, more monstrous life with this update.
Sims Mobile veterans are no stranger to party glitches. Late 2018 saw Sim parties glitch around level 10 and then boot all players in the party without granting fashion gem credits. The party would abruptly end, leaving the host with a party-less lot. In 2019, Sim partygoers saw their fellow Sims slowly disappear at parties. Thus, after a few minutes, only the host’s Sims were visible. Of course, this affected player sticker count, but Sims Mobile players are resilient bunch, and they soldiered on despite these issues.
The newest party glitch is, to put it in the most literal of terns, game-breaking.
Currently, when a player throws a Sim party, not only will the party crash and boot the players, but it will also crash the host’s game, rendering it impossible to log back into the game. Some Simmers, like user Lifeinapan, are unable to host parties at all.
Parties are an essential Sims Mobile game mechanic. Through parties, Simmers earn fashion gems for Izzy, connect with their friends, explore Simmers’ homes, and show off their impeccable fashion sense. It is a feature which largely sets Sims Mobile apart from its PC and console counterpart: Sims 4, by introducing a social aspect. This social, “multiplayer” feature is what has created such a vibrant, tight-knit community, so this particular glitch has been the final gut-punch for many players. Annoyed, Simmers have chosen to skip parties all together or, in worst case scenarios, quit the game.
Sunday, July 26th, user LifeinaPan inquired about this glitch with the gurus. SimGuruMegz responded with disheartening news: while developers are currently investigating the issue, there is no update on a fix at this time.
Simmers can only hope that these investigations yield results soon. Party lists are dwindling, and the community grows increasingly restless.

Although the Sims Mobile community is hot off the heels of the massive Eco Workshop update, Simmers are already itching for more content. Some of the insatiable community at large has already fully upgraded their Eco Workshop, found and married Knox, and continue to plug away at all four unlocked Eco Workshop slots. The question on everyone’s lips is now: “What’s next?”
Twitter user Hamza posed this query to the Sims Mobile Gurus Sunday evening, receiving a characteristic teaser from SimGuruMegz.
What could the next update be?
Much of the Sims Mobile community is itching for a base game update, in which the often rampant game glitches are addressed and certain game elements such as careers, hobbies, and relationships receive an desperately needed refresh.
Of course, some players dream of Sims Mobile pets, pools, and more playable Sims.

Lately, we’re all thinking a little more about our plastic use, our carbon footprint, and the kind of world we want to leave for our children. Why not reflect that in the Sims?
It was another quiet week in Sims Mobile land. As Simmers around the globe build new eco-friendly homes and work their fingers to the bone in Knox's EcoWorkshop, there has been little to no movement as far as Sims Mobile news. However, don't be dismayed. As July is ending quickly, and we are due for another slew of updates and events. Stay on the lookout for news about a brand new Sweet Treats, next month's Wumples, and maybe even another grand gameplay update further down the line. Even so, the last week of July does bring an event to which Simmers can look forward.
Wumples returns in-game with a new gamut of shifts, events, and bouts of intensive handwashing in order to bring players two new CAS items. The first is a unisex snapback cap, and the other item is a pair of super short shorts, imprinted with floral decollage. These shorts are only for male Sims.

If I could cut away from official Sims news for a moment, I'd love to tell you all about a project near and dear to my heart. At the SIms Nation, we focus on Sims and storytelling, mainly because I, one of the admins, love to storytell.
I have a Sim named Alaeryn, who is also very often my online persona: it's how you can find me on Twitter, Instagram, and a whole host of other social media platforms. This is because for the past decade I built a world around him and a ragtag team of revolutionaries in my debut novel, "The Reaching."
If you're a fan of fantasy, a fan of strong black leads, a fan of stories that involve the underdog overthrowing the powers that be, you'll love The Reaching, a high fantasy novel that follows the tribulations of Alaeryn Emlu'rathian.
After breaking with his elven tribe and assimilating into the West culture of humans, Alaeryn uncovers their brutality, the injustice of the world around him, and the monstrous divine gift that lurks inside him. Join him as he and his friends topple the very patriarchal system that has oppressed people around Avaria for ages. Find it now on Amazon, and thank you.
