The beginning of a new month brought a series of expected and important changes to the Sims Community. Sims Freeplay finally revealed their gamut of candy-colorful events, Sims Mobile rolled out their newest Treasure Hunt game mechanic with promises of a Sweet Treats event to follow soon afterward, and Sims 4 began its first round of complexion-correcting patches with a few added surprises, surprises. The Sims FreePlayAfter weeks of waiting and wondering, FreePlayers finally received the list of new events that would occupy them during October. In addition to an October 5th "Share your Care" live event that endows the participating player with living care bears, rainbow colored doors, striped flags, and lollipop-growing hedges, FreePlay will also offer players a combination of new and old fan-favorite events. October 6th brought the Downtown Developer 3 event, though this rollout was not without hiccups. Players soon discovered they could not build what they needed for the event, and Gurus soon investigated and corrected the issue. On October 12, the beloved "Ghost Flustered" event will return. This event awards players with fantasy skin colors such as red, green, blue, and more! Stay tuned on the Simmer's Digest website for exclusive walkthroughs to help you with this event. A second season of Influence Island begins on October 16th, this time offering a collection of sleek kitchen cabinets, stoves, and mini-fridges alongside a few bedroom pieces like beds, sofas, and fireplaces. SimChase season 20 initiates October 20th, and it brings a host of Halloween-themed items like bare, monstrous trees, moon lamps. jack-o-lanterns, the coveted trick-or-sweet bear and much more. Daring Dos, a hobby event that awards the player female hairstyles, returns to the game October 29th, and Simmers can expect a new maternity event on that day as well. If this were not all, the paperboy will deliver twice the rewards between October 28th and November 7th. The Sims MobileWhile the Sims Mobile had already unveiled their new Treasure Hunt event, which began September 28th, the developers also released blog notes that further described what Simmers can expect in the coming weeks. Developers made a large improvement to the LlamaZoom mechanic: task cards that used to ask for “any relationship, career, or hobby event” now only ask for “any event.” This means Eco Workshop, Treasure Hunting, and Sweet Treat events now count toward standard and long LlamaZoom task cards. In addition, the likelihood of these "any event" cards increased in this patch. Sims Mobile developers also noted that the Foxbury Institute Sweet Treats would begin October 12th and offer players the following items: Grand Prizes: ——————- -Flying drone -Bunk bed -Foxbury Lobster mascot costume (body & head) for male and female Sims Royal Box Prizes: ———————-- -Mini fridge -Gaming chair -Single bed -Camping chair Sweet Box Prizes: ———————- -Dorm room bookcase -Dresser -Student desk -Desk lamp -Energy drink wall poster -Stack of books -Tracksuit pants for female Sims -Cardigan for male Sims A curious Wumples event triggered in-game October 4th, offering players a jail cell toilet and soap shelf. (No, we aren't kidding.) There will be another Wumples event come October 18th that offers players some much needed menswear. Lastly, the patch added new items to Eco Workshop. Players can now craft soft launch loyalty rewards such as a suit of armor, a bear outfit, and a plush men's lounge robe. Players can also craft a few items from an older illamanati quest: suits, a frilled shirt for women, and a sweat suit top. Naturally, this half of the update came with new purchasable packs: the "Keep it Kitsch" and the "Back in Business" pack. Available from October 11th for $6.99 USD, "Keep it Kitschy" offers players: -Exquisitely delicate decanter -Fernando the Flamingo -Art Deco Print -Beautiful Beaded curtain -Tropical neon light -Malt Shop Jukebox -7K simoleons "Back in Business" will trigger in-game October 18th for $9.99 USD. It offers an all female wardrobe which includes: -Enterprising Individual Suit -Terrific Tartan Pants -Patterned Pencil Skirt -Wedge Heels -The Business Blouse -10K Simoleons The Sims 4Meanwhile, Sims 4 unleashed a patch of their own October 6th. This patch, meant to correct existing, splotchy skin tones, opened to mixed reviews. Game Changers and YouTubers alike pointed out that the color around Sim noses, eyes, and mouths is still inconsistent. This color correction accompanied a surprise free base game update to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. In a pop-up Twitch stream, Sim Gurus shared that the skin tone update would include a few CAS and build items to celebrate Hispanic culture. Bright jerseys and jackets bearing the butterfly, a symbol of peaceful migration, can now be found in Create-a-Sim. Simmers can also enjoy brand new grills, fresh cultural grill recipes, and lovely murals in build-buy. Many Simmers are still eagerly looking forward to hints about the next Sims 4 expansion pack, and they are lifting their eyes to December, when Maxis has promised new skin tones and skin tone sliders in an upcoming patch.
That's it for for now, but keep it locked on the Simmer's Digest website. We keep you informed day and night! Stay safe, wash your hands, VOTE, and happy Simming.

T’is the Season to be Scary! You know what time it is! October is firmly Halloween season, a time to release your inner freak and indulge your inner goth. This time of year, Simmers are likely looking to transform their homes into haunted houses, which means mastering the dark Victorian, or Gothic, look. Here are some helpful tips courtesy of Farhana, Felisha, and Shweta!
Gothic homes are often of the dark Victorian variety. This look is all about opulence, extravagance, and decadence. To snag this look for your home: 👻 Drench your home’s interior and exterior in black. 👻Use heavy materials for the walls like stone or brick 👻 Create a sense of decadence for your home with gold accents 👻Use old, classic light fixtures like extravagant chandeliers and candelabras. 👻Drape all windows in heavy looking curtains 👻Adorn table surfaces with candles and old books 👻Dominate the room with large, dark statement pieces like grandfather clocks or coffins 👻 Accent the color black with a similarly rich color like deep red, hunter green, sumptuous purple, or glittering gold. Steer away from lighter pastels like pink, yellow, or blue. 👻Choose rich, patterned wallpaper and carpeting 👻Choose intricately carved furniture pieces; stay away from clean, crisp lines. What are your favorite tips and tricks for haunted homes? Share out below! Family, Food, and VibrancyAdmittedly, Hispanic Heritage month is a largely American phenomenon. Our proximity to both Central and South American countries has an encouraged a free exchange of culture, ideas, language, and foods. Yet, the contributions of Hispanic people is evident worldwide, and this is what Maxis, the minds behind the popular Sims 4 franchise, seek to highlight this October. In an update dropping October 6th, 2020, Sims 4 developers will showcase hispanic culture as an amalgamation of many cultures, including Brazilian. As a part of this free, base game update, players will receive beautiful new pots, traditional coal-based grills, mosaic tables, lovely new chairs, and stunning murals. Focusing on the unifying themes of bold, vibrant colors and tight-knit family, Maxis has also included and male, female, and children’s CAS items in this update. Bold new tattoos, almost Aztec-like in appearance, have also been added to base game. If this were not enough, in addition to the theme of vibrancy and family, the Sims 4 team has “exploded” the available grill recipes. All grills will now include recipes for elotes, grilled plantains, and many more delicious, traditional Hispanic dishes. What excites you most about this update? Tell us in the comments below!
Stay safe, wash your hands, and happy Simming! Adios, chicos!
