This week’s spotlight is on the fantastic @sydneymacoretta and her Elemental Legacy Challenge ‘Let’s Play’ series. If you had not heard of this challenge before, don’t worry neither had I before I found Sydney’s channel some month’s back! Episode One begins with an excellent introduction to the challenge rules. You need to work through ten generations of Sims, from Fire to Light. I won’t tell you too much so as to not spoilt the rest, but I’ll briefly explain Generation One’s requirements as told by Sydney. They must have the hot headed trait, start off as the sole Sim in the household, experience fire at least once, make two enemies in their lifetime and get married to a Sim that ‘see’s past all flaws’. They also have a ‘child requirement’ of between 2-4 sprogs.
Sydney’s founder is the exceptionally beautiful Adara Phoenix, her first name chosen from the Hebrew for ‘fire’. Sydney has built a quaint little cottage in Oasis Springs to kick off the legacy and its very fitting for Adara (especially in the hot desert)! With bold, red wood and red features throughout the fire theme was clearly at the front of Sydney’s mind. The devil is always in the detail. As we whizz through the first couple of days in Adara’s life we see her tip her toes into the world of magic and start her culinary career at the same time. Being a wannabe witchy Sim, she starts to fit in with the crowd in the magic bar. She returns the next night and finds her way to the portal to The Realm of Magic. A hot headed witch due to be set on fire at least once in her life (on purpose) and forced to make enemies.. the story really is ‘hotting’ up! When will Adara find love too, as per the requirements of the challenge?
Sydney is an excellent storyteller, on camera throughout the episode. You don’t tend to see this a lot for Let’s Plays and I think it’s great. You see her live reactions and it feels like she is talking to you personally one-on-one. Narrating this way really helps pull you into the story, the characters and the world she has created for you. There are tonnes more besides this series on Sydney’s channel but I would recommend it as a brilliant place to start your binge-watching journey!
